Movie Websites Research

Jumanji
Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don't just play Jumanji - you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves - or they'll be stuck in the game forever.

In summary, I like this website and will be using aspects from it as it includes unique varieties of interactive elements such as a game, a moving background image, and even sound effects.

The Darkest Hour
A thrilling and inspiring true story begins at the precipice of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent , and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

In summary, this website includes a good few interactive elements that make the user feel more engaged with the site and therefore left wanting to see more. For example, the landing screen automatically plays the trailer of the film.

The Post
Katharine Graham is the first female publisher of a major American newspaper - The Washington Post. With help from editor Ben Bradlee, Graham races to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spans three decades and four U.S. presidents. Together, they must overcome their differences as they risk their careers - and very freedom - to help bring long-buried truths to light.

The Commuter
Insurance salesman Michael is on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on the train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realises a deadly plan is unfolding, and he is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for everyone on the train.

In summary, this website feels slightly less interactive than the other examples but still includes common features such as the trailer playing on the landing screen, and also the hiding navigation bar to allow for a more cinematic feel.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
Three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that'a about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinosaurs, while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet.

In summary, I really like how many aspects of interactivity this website has as it takes all the elements from elsewhere within the franchise and brings it into one place in turn sell the current movie. I think this sense of engagement is extremely effective towards keeping the audience interested.

Ocean's 8
Five years, eight months, 12 days, and counting - that's how long Debbie Ocean has been devising the biggest heist of her life. She knows what it's going to take - a team of the best people in the field, starting with her partner-in-crime Lou Miller. Together, they recruit a crew of specialists, including jeweller Amita, street con Constance, suburban mum Tammy, hacker Nine Ball, and fashion designer Rose. Their target - a necklace that's worth more than $150 million.

In summary, this website is very interactive and therefore engaging for the users. This site also includes one aspect that none of the other sites that I have researched includes and that is a downloadable link for the official soundtrack from the film. This is very effective as it keeps the audience involved in the media surrounding the film in a subconscious way.
